Shoots are greyish brown, having hairs in early times.

Leaves are alternate, wide oval, round top. 5-10 cm length.

White colored flowers open in May.

Fruits are oval, ripen to black.

It is also called Nanjamonja (means name unknown).

The wood is planted for garden, street tree.

Distribution ; Honshu (Aichi,Gifu prefecture), Tsushima Island, Korea, China, Formosa.
