Isunoki
Distylium racemosum


An evergreen tall tree with greyish brown bark.

Leaves are alternate, thick coriaceous, entire and recurved on the margin, deep green and lustrous above.

Red flowers open in April.

It grows in the warm temperate zone in Southern Japan.

The wood is used for floorings, alcove-posts, utensils, instruments. It is planted for garden tree.

Distribution ; Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Ryukyu, Formasa, Cheju Island, China
