Pourthiaea villosa var.laevis


A deciduous shrub with dark grey bark.

Leaves are alternate, srrulate, chartaceous, deep green and lustrous above. Petioles are 2-10 mm long.

It grows widely in the cool to warm temperate zone.

It is called Ushikoroshi.

The wood is used for sticks, handles of instruments. The fruits are edible and the tree is planted for garden tree.

Distribution ; Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, China
