Kenponashi
Hovenia dulcis


A large deciduous tree with greyish brown fissured bark.

Leaves are arranged in the orixate type, glabrous and glossy above, 3 nerved at the base, irregularly serrulate.

White flowers open densely in June to July.

It grows on fertile places in the warm to the cool temperate zone.

The wood is used for flooring, furnitures, utensils, instruments, carvings.

Distribution ; Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Korea, China
