Zelkova serrata


A large deciduous tree up to 40 m with greyish white smooth bark.

Leaves are alternate, rough, serrate.

It grows along streams or at the foot of mountains in the cool or warm temperate area and planted as street tree and windbreak.

The beautiful wood is used for buildings, furnitures, ships.

Distribution ; Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Korea, Manchuria, China
