Minezakura
Prunus nipponica


A small deciduous tree with dark purplish brown bark.

Leaves are alternate, ovobate, duplicately serrate, acuminate at the apex.

Acute teeth of serrations tipped with minute glands.

Petioles have a pair of glands at the apex, too.

Flowers open in May to July with new leaves.

It grows in the alpine and subalpine zone.

The tree is used for garden tree and Bonsai tree.

Distribution ; Hokkaido, Honshu
