Mitsubatsutsuji
Rhododendron dilatatum


A deciduous shrub with reddish brown smooth bark.

Leaves are gathered 3 at the end of shoots, entire on the margin, acute at the apex, green and lustrous above.

Reddish purple flowers open in April before the leaves.

This tree is commonly found on hills and low mountains in the warm temperate zone to the lower part of the cool temperate zone.

The wood is used for handiworks. It is planted for garden trees.
