Quercus mongolica var. grosseserrata


A large deciduous tree with greyish fissured bark.

Leaves with very short petioles are alternate, duplicately serrate with large teeth.

This species is a common tree in the cool temperate forests as well as Fagus crenata.

The wood is used for furnitures, buildings, barrels of liquor.

Distribution ; Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Korea, Manchuria, Southern Saghalien, Southern Kuriles
