A deciduous small tree with light greyish brown smooth bark.

Leaves are opposite, palmately 5-7 lobed, argute-serrate.

Petioles are 5-12 cm long, reddish, densely pilose.

This is one of the most common trees in the subalpineforests from valleys to ridges.

It is planted for garden trees.
