Shinanoki
Tilia japonica


A large decidous tree with greyish brown roughened bark.

Leaves are alternate, cordate, abruptly acute at the apex.

This is one of the representative forest trees in the cool temperate zone. Large trees are found on along wetty valleys.

The wood is used for buildings, utensils, veneer, match, paper pulp.

Distribution ; Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, China
