Cryptomeria japonica


An evergreen tree up to 40 m with reddish brown bark.

This species is monotypic and endemic to Japan. It is the most important planting tree in Japan.

Akita,Mt.Amagi,Yanase and Yaku Island are well-known for their natural Sugi forests.

The wood is very soft to process,so commonly used for buildings and furniture etc.

Distribution ;Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Yaku Island
