A deciduous shrub with grayish brown bark.

Leaves are alternate, several gathered at the top of shoots, obovate, elliptic, 2-3cm long, conspicuously ciliate and leaving minute serrations.

Flowers in April to June, corolla campanulate-tubular or tubular.

Capsules ripening in autumn, 4 mm long.

This shrub is not rare on the hills of middle and western Honshu, prefering sunny rocky places.

Distribution ; Honshu (Ibaragi to west), Shikoku (Tokushima,Kouchi)
