Leaves are 5 in a fascicle on short spurs, triangular in a cross section, deep green on dorsal surface, pale greenish white with 2 stomatal bands on ventural surface.

This species is very rare and restricted to the 2 islannds in the south of Kyushu.

The wood could be used for buildings.
