Ligustrum obtusifolium


A deciduous shrub with brownish grey bark.

Leaves are opposite, oblong, obutuse at the apex, entire, dull green and glabrous above, paler beneath.

White small campanulate flowers open on new shoots in May to June.

This tree is common in the cool to warm temperate zone.

The wood is used for seals, sticks. It is planted for hedges. The wax detouched the shoots is for medicine.

Distribution ; Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu
