Ilex rotunda


A large evergreen tree with greyish white smooth bark.

Leaves are alternate, thin coriaceous, entire on the margin, deep green and lustrous above, paler beneath.

Petioles are glabrous, violet, canaliculate above.

Dioecious flowers open in June on new shoots.

It grows near coast in the warm temperate to subtropical zone.

The wood is used for utensils, handiwork material. Bird lime is produced from the bark. It is planted for garden trees.
