Natsugumi
Elaeagnus multiflora


A deciduos small tree with blackish brown bark.

Leaves are alternate, entire, ovate, glabrescent and green above, silvery beneath, with a dense covering of white scales.

This tree is destributed in the low land and hills in the warm temperate zone to the lower part of the cool temperate zone.

The wood is used for handles of utensiles. The fruits are edible. It is planted for garden trees.

Distribution ; Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu
