Carpinus cordata


A deciduous medium sized tree with yellowish redbrown bark.

Leaves are alternate, abruptly acuminate at the apex, deeply cordate at the base.

This species grows along streams in the cool temperate zone.

The wood is used for alcove posts, utensils, turneries, fuels.

Distribution ; Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Korea, China
