Shirodamo
Neolitsea sericea


A small evergreen tree with greenish dark brown smooth bark.

Leaves are alternate, gathered at the top of shoots, distinctly 3-nerved, glaucous and with silky hairs beneath.

It grows along coasts in the warm temperate zone.

The wood is used for utensils, buildings, fuels. The seeds produce burning oil and wax of candle.

Distribution ; Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Ryukyu, Formosa, South Korea, China
