A deciduous shrub with slender brown branches.

Leaves are opposite, abrupt-acuminate at the apex, serrate, herbaceo-membraneous.

White to pale bluish flowers open in June to July.

It grows in low mountains and valleys on the Pacific side of Honshu.

It is planted for garden tree.

Distribution ; Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, China
